I have had the genuine pleasure of working with Mitzi over the past two years and have witnessed inspirational progress. I believe she will accomplish many wonderful things. She has not only a great jazz voice, one which is layered in sultry warmth and peppered with sparkling highlights, but also shows real talent as a lyricist…the words she writes to original music and existing bop standards are among the best I have seen.

Pay particular attention to the classical sound she creates in Beamtime Voicings (Monk’s Mood); the emotion in I Will Remember (Lament) and, the fresh approach she achieves with the standard, All Or Nothing At All.

The CD you hold in your hands is the result of a great deal of Mitzi’s time and effort. It is my hope that you will enjoy the results as much as I have enjoyed working with her, both as part of this project and as her musical director. I know that she put her heart and soul into this music, and all you need to do is listen well to catch some of her magic. Enjoy!
